So...I had planned on going in service today, but woke up with a brutal sore throat. Not fun after a rough night. The kids have been sleeping so much better for the past month that I've been spoiled. I think Quincy might have had the same throat thing as me, because she kept saying her tongue hurt when she woke up crying last night. She slept fine after I gave her ibuprofen, but woke up right when it wore off...poor baby. Obviously something was bothering her...can't say I blame her! However, I'm really tired today. I'm hoping to get a couple pages scrapped today...gotta get through that stack of photos I got a couple days ago! I also really want to make those chocolate chip cookies I found on Jill Horby's blog...so yummy! We'll see how energetic I am later.

Q's first haircut...

Well, I finally decided to bite the bullet and have it done. I have been planning this event in my head for months and couldn't postpone it even if I wanted to. Quincy was getting so shaggy that she needed a haircut badly. I had to time it just right for many reasons...Cole needed to be at school, it needed to happen right away when Kids' Hair opened so we could get in, and it had to be right before we went on our vacation so she could look all adorable for the trip. I was able to coordinate it all and we went in this morning, 1 week before we will be enjoying the Florida sunshine. I knew what my spirited little girl's reaction would be to being strapped down in a strange chair, ripped away from mom's loving arms, and having a stranger come at her with sharp implements. Not a pretty picture, but I was mentally prepped and I told the stylist,Kelly, who we thankfully knew from previous visits with Cole, that she would be squirmy and upset. Kelly didn't bat an eye and said almost all babies cry for a haircut when it has to be done this soon. She also said the hair was getting a little breakage and needed a trim, so it was good that we went. We were in and out in 15 minutes flat! It was great! Once Quincy got a sucker and was back in my arms she was smiling again. We'll be back before the Memorial I think for another mini trim. But for now, I'm basking in the fun of having a little girl that I can pick out cute hairstyles for. She does look adorable in her little bob! I'll put the photos up hopefully today...

Quite possibly the cutest sneakers ever...

I took the kids shopping with me so I could buy Quincy her first REAL pair of big girl shoes. She had one other pair that were used since the end of summer. They were fine, but didn't have much of a sole for the heavy duty walking that she's now doing. I found a fabulous brand of shoes called See Kai Run. They have the most adorable shoes for tiny kids. Too bad they don't make them in Cole's size or I would've been tempted to get him a pair. In fact the boys' styles are almost cuter than the girls'. They had one pair left in Q's size and I snatched them up. She looks so cute in them...just like a kid! I had to take a couple pics of just the shoes for posterity. I love that the company says that the leather used to make these shoes are "buttery soft" and I have to say, it's true. And the soles are more flexible than any shoes I've ever seen. So even though they were horribly expensive, I think they'll last her a very long time, or at least until she outgrows them! Then I get to go shoe shopping some more...:-)

Just another day in the frozen tundra...

I hate being a complainer, but this whole below zero thing is a huge bummer. If I have to buckle 3-4 children into carseats with fingers that have gone numb again, I think I'll go mad. At least it's above zero today...two degrees is better than none. I'm savoring thoughts of warm sunshine on my back and my two kids in their swimsuits splashing in the ocean...can't wait to leave this cold unforgiving place for warmer temperatures. Less than 20 days until we leave...yay! So excited! Packing stuff like shorts, sunglasses, and swimsuits does make me slightly less grouchy...so that's something!

Speaking of swimsuits, I tried Q's suit on yesterday to make sure it fit...which it did even though it was a 2T! Goodness, she's growing up fast! And I took a few photos of her sucking the cap to Ava's bottle to her face. Even though they are blurry photos...evidence of a active child...they are so funny. She's got her suit and hot pink socks on at the same time, hilarious to see. She makes me smile constantly...even though she's a very busy girl, she is such a source of joy...can't imagine life without her in it. My sunshine girl. Here's a couple of the photos...I'll post again soon, hopefully not months from now like last time.

Finally survived what Justin calls the "trifecta"?

I call it the plague...three times over. I was pretty sick...with like 3 separate things. I don't think that in my entire life that has happened before. I had a horrible cold with laryngitis, a viral rash that practically drove me to insanity, and mastitis. I really do think I almost turned into a raving lunatic from the pain and the constant itching. But, here I am...on the upswing, and that's good news. Thankfully Quincy has been sleeping through the night for over 2 weeks now. That is what I think saved me...and she started doing it all on her own, with no work on my part. Such a good baby...helping mom out just when I needed her to. I love my feel good baby. She always does just that. So now Cole has the plague that Justin had and is coughing like I've never heard him cough before....wondering if pneumonia is out of the question. We'll see what the next few days brings...For now I want to start a list of Q's milestones for the month so I don't lose track of time...here goes.

At 10 months you...
-are "cruising" along the furniture (walking while holding onto the couch, etc.)
-shake your head "yes" or "no" when I ask you questions
-try to say "cat", "what's that", and "ok".
-started sleeping through the night all by yourself (10.5 months)
-right at 10 months you started standing by yourself for short periods of time...but you do it so many times a day!
-still have no teeth!
-eat enough food to make a grown man jealous!

More to come!

My First Post

Well, I have decided to jump on the blog bandwagon. I think it's a great way to chronicle events in my family's lives. My kids could possibly read it and look back on what is going on in my and their lives. It also is a good way to let off steam if you're having a bad day...just like a journal. It's a great way for friends and family to keep in touch with what we're up to. So, I may not blog everyday...but it's not really about that. It's about writing when you want to and need to. So let the blogging begin...As for this photo, I just put up a cute photo of Cole to practice with. I will be putting photos of my scrapbook pages here on the blog. For now, here are a couple of recent photos. Cole, or my man of a thousand faces, as I like to call him, is showing off his "scariest face ever". I agree! And Quincy is so into books for the past 2 months...looking at the pictures, talking to people in the books, lifting flaps, turning pages oh so gingerly...that's my Q. All about the books! So cute and so her mom's influence...hope it's a lifelong love! Thanks for looking!p.s. you will be seeing many of these (...) because I am so a dot dot dot kind of girl...
